At Woodland Trails B&B, there are many ways to enjoy a Minnesota outdoor vacation!

Four-Wheeling & Snowmobiling
The Minnesota / Wisconsin and Gandy Dancer Trails are nearby and offer endless miles of adventure. We have room to park a snowmobile or ATV trailer.

Snowmobiles and ATVs are available for rent at Four Start Sports located in Webb Lake, just 20 minutes into Wisconsin from Woodland Trails. See their web site or call (715) 259-3286.

Horseback Riding – May through October
Frontier Trails, located near Frederic, Wisconsin, about 40 minutes from Woodland Trails, offers guided trail rides. Select rides of a half hour, one hour or two hours. Reservations and a liability waiver are required.

Driving directions to Frontier Trails are:
From WI Hwy 35 in Frederic, take Hwy 48 west 3 miles;
Right on County Line Road & follow it to the “T”;
Left on Whispering Pines Road about one mile to Frontier Trails. Call Wendy & Lydell Larson for further information: (715) 327-8572.

To meet and talk with horse enthusiasts, the Tamarack River Horse Camp is located just five miles up the road from Woodland Trails. On most weekends from May through October, the camp is full of people who love talking about their animals.

The Rhino Arena in Hinckley holds horse-related events indoors year around.

Motorcycling
Woodland Trails is an ideal destination for bikers from the Twin Cities, St. Cloud, Duluth/Superior or the Eau Claire area. The route to Woodland Trails is entirely over paved roads. Once here, your bikes can be stored inside overnight and shined up with complimentary towels.

Riding from Woodland Trails, you can head across the border into Wisconsin, which many consider to be “bikers heaven” because of the paved roads that gently wind through woods and around lakes.

Wild Animal Photography for Amateurs!
Yes, for the adventuresome, Minnesota Wildlife Connection is located just 30 minutes from Woodland Trails. Owners Lee and Sandy Greenly house dozens of native animals at their farm on the Kettle River. Photographers from all over the world come to photograph timber wolves, coyotes, fox, cougar, bobcat, lynx, black bear and other animals in natural settings.

Once a month or so they hold a special 3-hour event for amateur photographers. Innkeeper John and his daughter Stacy participated in one of these events. For their story, click here. For more information, check MN Wildlife Connection’s web site and then call (320) 245-2017.

Hunting Preserve
Bear Creek Pheasant Hunting Preserve is located nearby on 370 acres of land managed for wildlife. Call owner Dale Blowers at (320) 384-6954 for further information.

Take an Airplane Ride!
If you have never taken a sightseeing ride on a small airplane, it’s an adventure to remember. A qualified pilot from Hawk Aviation in Rush City, Minnesota will take you up from their home field, which is a 45 minute drive from Woodland Trails, or they will pick you up at the airport in Hinckley or Siren, Wisconsin. The cost for airplane and pilot runs about $130 per hour.

For more information, see their web site or call manager Mark Nelson at 320-358-3665.
